Ad Council: Insomnia

This campaign's goal is to inform viewers on the sleep disorder insomnia. The brief called for ads on a particular health topic that educate viewers on the health concern. I chose insomnia as it was visually a very fertile idea for me. I could think of a number of ways to depict someone being awake. The visually consistent part throughout all three ads is the light in a dark environment.
process
I started this campaign off stuck between two concepts: one that I felt could have been more meaningful and one I felt more inspired by (I went with that one). This was one of those projects where I could see it from the jump from the colors to the visuals. The first ad of the building was what popped into my head first and was the easiest to create. Following that, I struggled a bit with brainstorming other potential visuals I could use to create a full campaign. I liked the visual idea of something light against a dark background, so I thought of examples of this that could relate to insomnia and being up late. That's when I came up with the fridge light and the bedside table lamp.
